This car actually had a full cage, a very sturdy fire extinguisher mount and steel mesh welded in place of windows. I don’t think I would want my leg to bang into that shifter! I didn’t see any seatbelts either but who needs them when you are in a zombie attack vehicle? Apparently, the driver has been waiting for his Carl’s Jr order for some time now.
Nothing like some ballast to keep your car together or are those weights used as big washers?
For more awesomeness, check out this Jet Powered truck blowing up an SUV when it hits the afterburners. I found this to be most impressive, but I was disappointed they did it so far from the stands that it was a little hard to see. Maybe this was done for safety?
Anyway, this is all in fun and apparently serious injuries are pretty rare in this form of vehicular entertainment. If you live in Sothern California, I totally recommend that you go to Irwindale Speedway’s website and check out some of these whacky alternative motorsports. I find that going to see them is more of a good time than watching actual racing. Or maybe I am just jaded after doing years of race support!
