Event Coverage: Hagley Classic Car Show

,

This Dodge sedan is about as original as you can get from the 1930s.  The paint and patina are all original to this car, even the glass!
Even the interior is original.  You’re only original once and this car has it in spades.
Unfortunately the owner of this Camaro was not around to verify if this was indeed a pace car for the 1969 Indianapolis 500, but even if it is a replica, it’s a damn good one.  However I doubt it’s easy getting ahold of those pace car license plates, so it's likely genuine.  Whatever the case, I’m a huge 500 nut and pace cars are always cool.
Plymouth Superbirds are quite a rare sight indeed.  Before the value of these cars burst into the 7 figure range, four would appear at Hagley each year.  In 2014, this 1970 example was the only one to be found.
But what an example!  It was restored some time ago and signed by both Richard Petty and his crew chief Dale Inman.  The owner certainly knew his Superbird history and we chatted about these cars for some time.
Let’s get onto some hotrods now.  This is an original Deuce roadster (a  ’32 Ford for you non-hotrodders) and is an original hotrod, dating from around the 1950s or 60s.  The cycle fenders and engine are period correct, as are the seats and the body modifications (i.e. almost none).
