Two of the faster cars on grid meet up on Top 16. Tony Cisneros in his LS-powered s14 and Amanda Sorensen in her LS-powered E46 battle it out and put on a good show. Sorensen does a great job riding the walls, but Cisneros fills out many of the other zones in a strong way, giving him the win.
SoCal natives George Kilada in his LS1 s13 and Mark Sanchez 4G63 powered s13 battle it out. Kilada has a seemingly perfect lead run with tons of angle and smoke while maintain a high line. Although Sanchez had a great lead run, Kilada stayed on him the entire time, giving Kilada the win.
Top 8 brought on some interesting battles. WexArexLions teammates Daryl Priyono and Rome Charpentier end up paired against one another. The two of them driver together frequently, so this was an anticipated battle! Charpentier throws huge angle in his lead run right off the bank, but Priyono stays with him. Charpentier maintains a high line on the second outer zone. On Priyono’s lead run, he was a more shallow on the bank but entered the rest of the course smoothly and did a great job filling in the zones. However, Charpentier was more consistent in his lead run and took the win.
Probably one of the most talked-about battles was Micah Diaz versus new TDL driver Pablo Cabrera. Diaz definitely had a great lead on, with Cabrera a little shaky on the follow while still maintaining good proximity. Cabrera, on his lead run was somewhat shallow on the bank, but Diaz gave me a lot of space. This led into a One More Time (OMT). Unfortunately for Diaz, his night ended on the second battle when his tire debeaded while he was on the big bank, which ultimately sucked him into the wall and caused some pretty serious damage. Cabrera moved on in competition.
Another battle in Top 8 was Cano Estrella versus Mason. Unfortunately Cano Estrella’s AE86 ended up breaking some parts that the team didn’t have spares for, resulting in Mason getting a by-run and moving on in competition.
