Lining up the kit and screwing it into place is best done from the front of the car to the back. The front bumper can only be mounted in one position where the holes in the Rocket Bunny kit line up with the holes the stock bumper mounted. The rest of the pieces will be located based off that starting point.
This is Doug, he’s the guy at EK Autoworx that handles all the fabrication duties. He’ll be doing everything for us today beginning with the front fenders which need to be trimmed back to about an inch from where the Rocket Bunny overfender mounts. The higher he cuts, the less chance of tire/stock fender interference.
With the first cut complete our classic Japanese car is officially ruined.. Oh yeah, unless you count the whole V8 thing.
We don’t have much experience with bodykits so don’t take our word for it–take Doug’s! He was impressed by how well our Rocket Bunny kit was made–all the panels fit nicely together and the lines match the lines of the car’s stock panels. Not much if any sanding and contouring will be needed thanks in part to TRA Kyoto’s high-tech design process! Kei Miura (the man behind TRA Kyoto, the company that produces the Rocket Bunny kits) first laser scans the vehicles he’s building a kit for and does all the design in 3D CAD–not off clay build ups! The design process takes him about a month but saves us a lot of time, money and headaches!
Throw a few screws in it to hold the overfender in place and we’re on to the side skirts!
Not much to it. The skirts hang at least 2 inches lower than the stock rocker panels and frame rails.
