Blacktrax Performance S2000 Motorsport Makeover: Part 4 – Final Bodywork, Second Engine Build, Testing, and First Races
In our last update on the Blacktrax Performance S2000, nicknamed “Irene”, we covered the basic motor internals, exchanging the rubber subframe mounts with solid pieces, and the rubber suspension bushings with spherical units. We had made some body modifications in order to fit the new wheels and tires, and also for the final aero pieces, which will be covered first in this update on Irene.
The front bumper on Irene is an APR Performance GT bumper, which was widened by 5Fifteen Autobody in order to perfectly meet the wider J’s Racing Type S fenders, which were also widened by an additional 10mm in order to fit the 275/35R18 Hankook Ventus Z214 DOT R compound tires wrapped around 18×10 TE37SL Black Edition wheels. J’s Racing also supplies the Type S rear over-fenders.
The huge front splitter is handmade of carbon fiber by WASP Composites, who also provide the canards on the front bumper and the side diffuser or side skirts, which are all also made of carbon fiber.
After all the body panels were fitted on to the car, 5Fifteen finished the body in Signal Green, from Porsche’s GT3RS. The CT Engineering cage was painted battleship grey in our previous installment.
