DashCommand Mobile App Now Available for iPhone and Android
Performance enthusiasts and racers looking for more in-depth communication with their vehicles can now turn their iPhone or Android smartphones into an advanced in-car computer. Previously only available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, Palmer Performance Engineering’s DashCommand app provides your vehicle with a virtual dashboard that puts all the vital performance numbers and engine parameters in one place. Its virtual gauges display detailed data on horsepower and torque, boost/vacuum pressure, air/fuel ratio, engine coolant temperature, instant and average fuel economy, and much more. DashCommand also integrates the smartphone’s GPS and accelerometer to include specialized features such as racetrack mapping and acceleration data, an inclinometer (for off-roading), and a skid pad feature for measuring g-forces.
Whether they are seeking to monitor the tune of a track car or get the best performance out of their street machine, users have up to 229 OBD-II parameters at their fingertips. Easily visible on their own high-quality color smartphone screen through DashCommand’s virtual dashboards, data is pulled directly from the vehicle’s OBD-II port through a low-cost OBD-II connection device (available separately). Data logs can then be emailed to a PC for further analysis. Its vehicle manager feature has the ability to support data from multiple vehicles. DashCommand can also be used as a scan tool to read and clear OBD-II trouble codes that trigger the “check engine” light.
The new Android app for DashCommand is now available through Android Market, while the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch app is available through the iTunes App Store.
