Family Guy is my absolute favorite animation series in existence. Why? Because it is the funniest animation series in existence. I was slow to start watching Family Guy and didn't really pay attention to it until season 4. My friends Tony and Yaya introduced me to it luckily. There isn't an episode where I have not cracked up from the humor and talent of the writers, creators, and voice actors of Family Guy. Peter Griffen and family are the bomb.
The DVD versions of Family Guy are uncut and unrated. They contain the humor creator Seth MacFarlane wants you to see and enjoy. It seems to help if you are mid 30's and older to understand all of the jokes. I think that since Seth MacFarlane is in his mid/late 30's, most of the humor is biased toward people around that age. Several years ago I met one of the animators, Ed, through my buddy DJ Paris. I actually saw Ed this past weekend, but didn't get a chance to chat with him. I do remember that he really enjoyed working on the show though. Several years ago I went to Peter Shin's baller pad in the hills of Silverlake/Hollywood for a wrap up party for Aeon Flux move with Charlize Theron. Shin was one of the creators of the original MTV Aeon Flux series from the early 90's. Shin is also currently the supervising director and lead animator for Family Guy. He seemed like a cool guy, but I didn't get to talk to him much. I just enjoyed the party and free drinks. Anyhow the DVDs have cast interviews and a bunch of behind the scenes stuff. Watching the staff clips everybody seems to genuinely enjoy working on Family Guy and the results show in the final product.
Yes, I have been extremely busy and have not had a chance to write much, but I thought this was important enough to crank out real quick. So go out and buy season 8! I got mine's today.
