Dean Kearney in the Oracle Lighting Dodge Viper would take on Mister Consistent, Chris Forsberg in the NOS Energy Nissan 370Z. While Dean was able to make very clean lead and follow runs Forsberg was able to use consistency and proximity to take out the Irish born drifter.

Car gremlins have been taking a bite out of Ryan Tuerck’s luck as of late in the Retaks Scion FR-S. During his follow run against Aurimas Bakchis in the Feal Suspension/Nexen Tire/US Air Force Nissan 240SX, Ryan's car shut down just prior to the first rear clipping zone. Odi got the win by virtue of Ryan's breakage. |
Another uphill battle for a Formula Drift Rookie, Canadian Mats Baribeau in the Gold in the Net Toyota Mark II had to try and score a goal against veteran Tyler McQuarrie in the GoPro/Mobile 1 Chevrolet Camaro. Mats could not find a weakness against Tyler and with bad driving, McQuarrie was given the win.

Mike Essa in the GSR Autosport/Yokohama Tire BMW M3 would pair up against the Megan Racing/ Hankook Tire Flyin’ 86 of Taka Aono. With Taka getting straight twice on his lead runs and Mike really pouring on his driving, Essa moved on to the Top 16.

Jeff Jones in the CX Racing/Hankook Tire Nissan 240SX was the first to fall to the Norwegians in Round 3. Kenny Moen in the Lutz Performance Nissan 350Z, which is now one of the oldest chassis' in Formula Drift, was able to move on when Jeff spun out during his lead run.

Speaking of Norway, the next driver up was The Hammer of Norway, Fredric Aasbo in the Hankook Tire/Motegi Racing Scion tC. He would face off against the wild one, Chelsea Denofa in the BC Racing BMW 3-series sedan. While I call him the Hammer of Norway, he's drives his car with a deft foot. With an outstanding lead run, Aasbo moved on to the Top 16. |
