What many looked to as the dark horse win, Robbie Nishida was able to outperform the Falken Tire Ford Mustang of Justin Pawlak. Nishida drove the Achilles Radial SC400 with absolute precision and many see this as his best performance to date! Could Daigo Saito perform just as well?

While fans were not happy with the outcome and that Joon Maeng could not protest, they all have to live with it. Tony Angelo would look to better his previous performance without contact against Dave Briggs. Tony was able to perform better, but in the eyes of the judges Briggs was just as good. So, both drivers had to go One More Time. This time, both drivers could not get any footing as they would put down a zero run each. Finally, in the third OMT, Tony Angelo would have a failure and not be able to face Briggs again. This puts Dave Briggs into the Great 8, the highest Dave has been able to achieve in his career to this point!

Odi Bakchis would make the decision to let Chris Forsberg off easy by taking an off course on his lead run. With a good lead run by Forsberg, Odi’s night was done.

In another stunning performance, Mike Essa in the GSR Autosport BMW M3 would take the win against Tyler McQuarrie in the GoPro/Mobil 1 Chevrolet Camaro. That wouldn’t be all the bad news in the McQuarrie team as it was announced that JR Hildebrand was released from his contract with Panther Racing on Friday. However, this could mean that JR would enter Formula Drift a round early. Is Formula Drift ready to see an Indy Car star enter its realm earlier than expected?

We had “Reckless” Rob on the MotoIQ Radio Formula Drift Special, but I am beginning to wonder if we shouldn’t give the reckless title to Kenny Moen. Three events in a row something happens to or Moen does something weird to cause his car to crash or go off course at the very least. This would give the win to Fredric Aasbo, but will this bad streak end for Moen once the Supra is brought back into Kenny’s hands? It helped Ryan Tuerck last year by getting into a chassis he was familiar with.

The battle of the mistake filled runs continued with Vaughn Gittin, Jr. and Conrad Gruenwald. Both drivers performed with zero runs that resulted in a One More Time. Both drivers would once again drift poorly, with Vaughn making contact with Conrad and Conrad with an overall sloppy run. Finally, a winner was announced when Conrad went off course twice and Vaughn would get into the Great 8.
