MotoIQ Wants You! (for your podcast ideas)

Sorry, I could not find a picture of Jeff, Martin, and Myself all together and this was the only sorta recent picture of me I could find.

Nevertheless, we are going to start doing a podcast and we would like your ideas.  If you are interested in any topics, or guests, or have tech questions, leave them in the comments section right here and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We plan to start in a few weeks so lets get those ideas coming!

  1. You may not want to hear this but I would like to get an interview with Mike Kojima and his history. How he got into cars, experience, education, etc. He has a wealth of knowledge about cars and I think it would be very interesting and set the bar for future interviews.

  2. – sizing turbos for the layman
    – interpreting surge map
    – boost pressure vs. compression ratio (port & direct injection
    – tuning myths (AFR’s, injector timing, spark timing, etc.)

    1. Would love to hear a full ep on engineering Dai’s S13 , one on all the TRD projects especially the Atlantic 4A development, and then discussion episodes where the hosts are given a class of Motorsport (and a budget) and have to outline and defend their chassis/drivetrain choices, or “what’s the most challenging build/project you’ve ever been involved with”, that sort of thing.

  3. Looking forward to the podcasts, for the newer readers and followers talking about past projects, what was not mentioned in the articles and funny stories around them. Chats with fellow engineers about projects theyve worked on, how they figured out difficult problems. Stories of the old days of tuning, car building, the scenes the guys of Moto IQ were in. Car builders you guys like and other popular people to dig into their cars as much as they want to share. Just a couple ideas to start

  4. Great idea. A podcast that can be downloaded as an MP3 would be great (as opposed to subscriber-only platforms).

That aside, I’m sure you’ll be fine coming up with interesting topics and content. I would however suggest content aimed at amateur modifiers and amateur track enthusiasts, including mindset, priorities, tools & equipment, testing & improvement, reliability-increasing factors and so on.

  5. I’d like to hear discussions with builders/engineers that pushed the envelope in car tuning. Outside of the box engine swaps, pull/push rod suspension conversions, drivetrain conversions, etc. I’d like to hear the problems they ran into, how they solved them, the design and build process and methods, tools and software used to accomplish the build. I’d especially be interested to hear from more grassroots builders that don’t have access to advanced engineering teams and industrial level machine shops. As a garage builder, while hearing about the design process and building of cars with the likes of Koennigsegg and Gunther Werks is awesome and interesting, it’s outside the scope of what the majority of enthusiasts capabilities lie.

  6. Mike K should be main presenter / interviewer
    Very likeable personality and funny

Can you cover ecu tuning, & average joe car builds

  7. -Tales of the days of Sport Compact Car. Shiv, Dave, etc.
-Your take on illegal activities – street racing, takeovers, touge
-Your participation/lack thereof in the FnF franchise
-Platforms that are super popular, but cost so much money to make power – basically an expansion on your “these engines suck” article.

  8. I’d love to hear some old stories from the Sport Compact Car days.

The current state of import drag, and where you’d start if you wanted to build a car today.

  9. I would love to hear about the steps of the build for your Z32 and what is your favorite build that you ve done.

  10. Hi guys,
first, thumbs up for all the great articles!
as a car enthusisat with slim wallet , i’d like to see more backyard engineered cars!
I had great times learning from your technical articles, but being in an island far from everything makes every little bit of a build, challenging and expensives!
In our country, engine swaps are the must, as forged items and parts strenghening processes can be too expensive from shipping and taxes view.
Restoration of old cars is an other aspect of car culture here, but parts research can be time consuming.
I’d like to see more Pacific area car builders and racers cars, mostly for their cost effective take on racing cars build.
Thanks for keeping us islanders in touch with the best content we mechanics can dream about.

  11. I think people who follow you guys are technical petroheads. Structure it in a way where you’re not trying so damn hard to be funny with bs banter (no offense, but your first podcast was hard to listen to). Have proper structure, good moderation, dense technical ideas, car setup, racing scene talk, interesting car stories or history, timestamps in the description. I like dense technical knowledge (for example, your shock setup series).

  12. This was kind of already touched on in the second podcast but to go deeper how do you combat understeer in an AWD that’s FWD biased, camber, toe, caster, front ducting what else can resolve this before just changing it to RWD bias?
