Only 365 of the Aston Martin Virage Coupe were produced between 1989-1995 with only 1 in 7 mated to a ZF five speed manual tranny. The 5.3L 32V V-8 engine produced 330hp but the supercharged version came in around 550hp!

The Alfa Romeo 1300GT Junior had a 1.3L twin cam engine. The tach had no redline and went to 10,000 rpm but any owner who read the manual would know the engine was really limited to about 6,500…

But the engines were also not made for put-put. Operating them before warm up or cruising around less than 4k rpm all the time was a quick way to destroy the motor. Good thing too- they lacked much power that low anyways.

The Mercedes Benz 190SL had a small pump that allowed you to prime the carbs if the engine hadn't been operated in some time. Design flaw- well engineered stuff like that and then drum brakes at every corner!
