A big A’PEXi front mount intercooler is lightweight and has good core airflow which helps the radiator get enough cooling air. |
|
A Garrett GT3076 ball bearing turbo supplies enough airflow for over 500 whp if needed and is relatively responsive. Boost is controlled by a Tial 44mm wastegate which cannot be seen in this image. |
The stock intake manifold sports a 70mm N14 N1 throttle body with a big fuel rail and bigger injectors. A DOC tubular header extracts the exhaust and feeds it to a Garrett GT3076R ball bearing turbo. A Tial 44mm wastegate controls the boost with a Tial blow off valve taking care of surge. Garage Autohero charge pipes feed the compressed air to an A’PEXi front mount intercooler.

A Koyo N-Flow off the shelf radiator provides cooling. Most FD cars run high buck custom radiators but the Koyo radiator works just fine! |
A Koyo N-Flow radiator helps keep things cool. Engine management is handled by an A’PEXi Power FC D-Jetro tuned by Lawrence of Intec Racing which enables the use of speed density tuning so that the MAF could be ditched. The boost pressure is controlled by an A’PEXi AVC-R. The potent SR pumps out 480 whp and 440 lb/ft of torque with all day reliability.

A Greddy oil cooler is plumbed with high quality AN fittings. Reliable plumbing is very important in a drift or any other race car for that matter! |

Generous breather tanks are always a good idea on a competition turbo motor. |
The drivetrain is well thought out as well. An Exedy twin disc clutch and lightweight flywheel couples the SR20 to a 350Z six speed transmission. A Shaftmasters aluminum driveshaft feeds the torque to an R32 GT-R diff with a Kaaz 2 way LSD. GT-R axles and rear hubs are also used for their greater strength.

The tranny is normally an S Chassis weak point. A beefy 350Z tranny takes care of that issue. A custom adapter plate mates the transmission to the SR20DET. |
