ARK Team America BNR32 GT-R Update Teaser

,

Our previous modified stock steering column has been replaced with a fabricated longer one and the sheet metal of the dash has been scrapped to accommodate an all new interior which will have an intercooler located in the middle of where the dash used to be.  The intercooler has been moved so as not to compromise the front aero.  Moving it inside will also greatly shorten the intercooler ducting to improve throttle response. Having the heavy intercooler centralized will also take a lot of weight off the front of the car.  If you recall the engine is set so far back that the car is a front mid engine as the engine is nearly behind the front axle centerline.
Everything in the front has been scrapped to accommodate Andrew Brilliant’s aero design.  Note the horizontal location of the coolant heat exchanger and the aerodynamic duct.  I would be killed if I showed off any other details.  An aluminum alloy truss supports all of this new structure.  It is easily removable for repairs.
My department is remaining nearly unchanged.  We will revise the KW suspension front shock bodies to make them lighter and redesign the lower control arm to be stronger in anticipation of much greater aero induced loads.   We had to compromise the steering rack position to accommodate the transaxle but overall the geometry of the front end is so much better than the stock BNR32 considering the limitations that exist with using the stock uprights.
Our front splitter is huge, you can see the aero ducting for the engine’s heat exchanger and some of the front details.  This is about all you are going to get to see but the wood will be replaced with carbon and some additional secret details will be added.

In the next week or so, we will show you more as some of the fabrication gets done.  Most of the major stuff is done and it is just assembly and fitting that is going to be required in the next few weeks as the team gets the car ready to ship.  Stay tuned!
