Dai Yoshihara Road Atlanta round 2 Forumla Drift 2010

Vaughn Gitten has been on a streak with a win in the Long Beach first round and he easily walked up the ladder despite a spin against the M5 powered BMW of Mike Essa. It was a classic battle of diverging driving styles, Dai’s precise, smooth and flowing driving against Vaugh Gitten’s spectacular pedal to the metal balls to the wall sensory assault. Dai was able to beat Vaughn Gitten with flawless runs, showing a lot of angle and speed, pulling away despite a large horsepower disadvantage to the mighty supercharged Mustang.

With Dai in first and Vaughn Gitten in second, Team Falken took up the first two spots on the podium with 2009 Champion Chris Forsberg coming in third.  With his second place finish Vaughn Gitten is the first driver in Formula D history to stand on the podium in two consecutive events and has a commanding lead in the Formula D points standings, with Dai moving to second place.  It is also Team Falken’s second victory in a row.

Dai’s victory is particularly sweet as bad luck has kept him from the podium for nearly two seasons including his disastrous 2009 season where nothing seemed to go right for him despite excellent driving and hard work from his crew.
