Question Time!

First off let's tell our readers which series you drive in?

Well, initially I was building the car specifically to Redline Pro Time Attack's rulebook. Unfortunately the season has been canceled as of late, and it is currently TBA if they will be bringing TA back again next year or continue efforts with a wheel to wheel series. I am still continuing the build the car to compete in Time Attack in the coming years, which series I will compete in remains to be seen as I'm sure 2012 will bring a lot of changes to what Time Attack is right now. Currently there is a small handfull of TA series that have formed or are forming as we speak, depending on how the rest of this year plays out I will know within the first couple of months of 2012 which series I plan on campaigning Godzilla with. I am also open to at some point do wheel to wheel – perhaps even MotoIQ's series!

Could Kerryann bring Godzilla to compete in the MPTCC?  We'd certainly love to see it!

How did you get your start into cars and racing?

Cars started with my mother, she had a thing for Classic domestic, though she wasn't into racing or motorsports she started my general interest in cars that I nurtured into a full blown hobby now. Racing started with the 1/4 mile at 18 or 19 years old with friends. In the last 10 years between drag racing, auto-x, carshows, motorcycles and so on I have finally found my way into playing on road courses which led me to actually competing, versus just having fun on “test n tune” days. Track days are a lot of fun and I enjoy them, but the thrill and anxiety of competing is something I absolutely love. Everything about it is just home for me, the stressful build up, the anxiety at the event, the depressing after effects knowing I have to go back to my “normal life” even those not fun moment's in racing are important to me….I just can't think of anything else I would rather do than be at the track competing… 2nd to that being at the track just driving. Unfortunately lately with the GT-R its been a bit of a hassle to get it on the track and happy. But I'm very patient, and we're working on making it a happy track car.

What made you choose Time Attack as your series?

Time Attack is very appealing for the grass roots guys, it's easy to compete in and not that expensive. That's what initially sparked my interest in 2008 when I started with my Mitsubishi Evo IX. I liked that there were rules but not so many that it was almost impossible for the average joe to get started. When I started I just simply got hooked. Sure it's not “wheel to wheel” but there is some form of competition there, I mean we're all out there driving those cars to their limits and some of these cars are ridiculously fast and have so much money and hours of work and design wrapped into them they might as well be purpose built race cars, and the teams that have competed are full blown race teams…..like Sierra Sierra, Fontana Nissan, COBB, FXMD, World Racing….and those are just some of the local U.S. guys. It's very exciting as a competitor and a spectator.

Who are your current sponsors?

Nissan Race Shop, COBB Tuning SoCal, Enkei, Seibon, Buddy Club, Gialamas Technical Innovations, Sparco, Falken, Robispec, KW Suspension, K&W Autobody, House of Kolor, Debeer refinish.

Who was your first sponsor and how did they help you?

My very first sponsor ever was Robispec & Road Race Engineering with my Evo. Road Race Engineering are tuning masters in the world of Mitsubishi(and more now), they provided tuning and work along with track support, because of them my Evo was a daily driven, reliable track beast. Robispec run by suspension geek Robert Fuller tuned my suspension and guided me though the world of chassis and suspension dynamics. I never knew there was so much that could be done to make your car significantly faster without adding horsepower. They were the first to believe in me and I am eternally grateful for everything they have done for me, and to this day I still swear by all the work they do! Great companies run by good people!

My first sponsor for the GT-R was Enkei Wheels, for many years I had already been running their wheels and swore by them, they were gracious enough to provide sponsorship to my GT-R project with my favorite wheels - NTO3+M's, and support as a driver. My loyalty to Enkei was well in place long before sponsorship, they just happened to sponsor me after that point.

What advice would you give to someone or a team wanting to get into Time Attack?

Just sign up! It's so easy to get into TA, read the rule book and build your car accordingly. There are different classes that represent the limits a team or person can build a car so depending on how deep your pockets are the skies the…or the rulebook's the limit!
