After Time Attack what series would you like to progress to?

I would love to get into any wheel to wheel road racing series. That is my goal in the next couple of years, and at some point after that I would like to be at a professional driver level and drive for a team versus being a privateer. How long that will take me, I don't know, but its certainly attainable and I'll have fun on the way!

Who do you look to for guidance with your driving, do you have any racing idols?

I really admire that Lyn St. James began her racing career “late” in life and was still able to become a fierce competitor and to this day one of the most well known names when it comes to women in racing, she is definitely an inspiration. I have quite a few friends that have been in the industry and around racing for a very long time, they have seen it all – I look to those friends when I need guidance on anything. I have my days when I feel like I'm just a silly girl with silly dreams – it's good to have friends that support you but offer a reality check when you need it.

Where and when was your first competition?

Redline Time Attack at Buttonwillow in March of 2008. I was really awful and my car wasn't set up well, not to mention everyone's car and driving experience was 20 times my own, BUT it was the best time I ever had on 4 wheels….no actually it was just the best time ever. I had competed in drag racing at local challenges and events in Seattle but no real sanctioned events, so I don't count those, I was certainly not as serious 10 years ago as I am now!

How did you do in that?

I think my time was a 2min 11seconds which is well, not good, 3rd place was about 6 or 7 seconds faster than me!

What was your first “race” car?

Well my GT-R is my first real race car but my first car I raced was an '89 Honda CRX Si with bolt on's. I thought that car was hot sh*t!

You have a son, has he expressed any interest in racing?

Of course! He has already staked his claim on the GT-R, I'll never sell it because he would never forgive me. He is starting to get too old for karting (like actually competing) but I'm still trying to work on getting him involved. Of course he has already planned on getting a Miata and starting when he is 15(oh goodness thats right around the corner!) he's reading books about racing and his room is covered in posters of race cars and race car drivers. He accompanies me to a lot of auto or racing events and enjoys them! So I guess you could say he has an interest in racing, driving especially.

How old were you when you started racing?

My first time on a race track was at Bremerton Raceway in Bremerton, WA down the 1/4 mile drag strip, I wouldn't say that was “racing” but it was enough to get me hooked on that adrenaline rush.

While this isn't her car, Kerryann's first times at the track came at the wheel of her '89 CRX Si with bolt on's.

Do/did you get flack from the guys you race against? or Have the guys always accepted you as a female in your series?

I'm usually accepted, and then some people like to ignore me and rather rudely in fact, and a time or two I have had some people actually tell me women have no business in a race car, fortunately I don't care about what the latter says but just can't believe people still think that way. As for those who are too good to talk to me, I'm probably better off not talking to anyway. However most people are pretty cool and I'm accepted as equal
