Modernizing the VG30DETT, Fixing the Oil System

We are also going to use a BDE Engineering oil pump back plate to gain more flow. The plate is made of CNC machined 6061 aluminum.

The new plate is thicker and allows machined relief cuts above the passages in the pump before and after the rotor to give more room for the oil to flow through.

The wider pan rails require the use of a remote oil filter as the stock oil filter will not clear them.  The BDE remote oil filter block adaptor gives needed clearance for the pan and removes the oil filter bypass valves assuring your oil filter and cooler see full oil flow.   The adaptor is machined from 6061 aluminum and uses -10 AN fittings. The adaptor uses no gaskets, only Viton o-rings for leak-free sealing and all hardware is stainless steel.

We think that having a good supply of oil with a lot less air in it is going to go a long way toward curing the rod bearing failure issue.  We are waiting for one more additional part to complete our oil system modifications and we will do a quick write-up on it as soon as it comes in.

  1. Thank you thank you for returning to this project, I have read the old project 300zx articles a million times and was so bummed about there never being a conclusion (not as bummed as I am about the Dave Coleman unfinished Silvia and Miata articles)
Also where’s the drag 2jz motor mike?!
    Thanks again

  2. Yes, I’ve said on IG and FB and wherever else, the SCC nerd in me is so excited. Love the new tech being injected on such a iconic build.
