Considering this is a new track and area for Formula Drift, who are my picks for the weekend? Allow me to list my predictions for the top four, in no particular order:
You cannot count out current points leader, Dai Yoshihara. He has a good streak going with his win at Road Atlanta! I predict at least a podium for Dai, if not the win. This track caters to his high speed “Slide or Dai” attitude! |
Another man I predict will be on the podium at PBIR, Vaughn Gittin, Jr. and his Monster Energy Ford Mustang. He is a man on a mission and the Invasion gives this Soldier of the Drift Alliance the opportunity to fulfill his mission statement, “I Shall Return.” |
Making a successful 2011 debut of the LS7 powered S14, Matt Powers will be looking to step up from his Round 2 finish at Atlanta. Matt’s hunger will ensure at least a third place finish, or a very difficult driver to surpass on the way there. |
Despite winning Long Beach, Justin “JTP” Pawlak’s second round loss at Road Atlanta has given him ambition for a much better result at PBIR. Will it equal a podium in his 410ci Roush-Yates powered Falken Mustang? |
So, the dates are set, watches synchronized! In just a few days, Formula Drift will be invading Palm Beach International Raceway and I will be there to capture all the action and get the stories for MotoIQ! Pack your rations, pack your weapons of choice, sit back, and enjoy the show, Florida will not know what hit them! See y’all there!
