Robbie Nishida would face the Norwegian Hammer, Fredric Aasbo for their chances into the Great 8. Fredric would lead first and Robbie would stick within a quarter to a half of a car length against Aasbo. However, Aasbo's lead run was very well executed. Robby's lead run, however, would put Fredric at a disadvantage after hitting Robbie and spinning himself out. Robbie would continue on to the Great 8.

Ryan Tuerck would face the awesome Matt Powers in the battle of S14 V8 versus S13 V8, with Powers in the newer chassis than Tuerck. Tuerck's lead run had a small bobble putting Matt at an advantage after their first run. On their second run, Ryan created a gap against powers, then leading into the final front clip, Matt spun. That is an instant zero and Ryan would move on to the Great 8.

Rhys Millen and Pat Mordaunt would face each other first in the Great 8. Millen would also lead Mordaunt first and created a lot of proximity against Pat. Pat, however, held the same line as Rhys, but it also slowed Mordaunt down. With that advantage, Rhys could hold back a bit, but he wouldn't create too large of a gap either. Using his experience, Millen would stay close enough to Pat to give himself an escape route. Because of his proximity advantages on both runs, Rhys Millen would move on to the Final Four. He was looking like he was on his way to the 2012 Championship.

For those of you who doubt the abilities of Matt Field, I give you this battle. It was one for the ages as Field not only kept up with Daigo Saito, but was also right up to Saito's door! He would also pull proximity gaps like this on his lead run. However, Matt would touch the wall to a point that the judges couldn't call a favorite, so a One More Time was called that evening for the first time. Here, many though Matt couldn't pull off the same run, but after a quick tire change, Matt came out and pulled off the same runs again. However, he did hit the wall a little harder than before on his lead run, enough that sparks flew out. Despite what the fans saw, despite what the media saw, it was enough for Daigo to take the advantage and move on to the Final Four. Somebody give this kid a championship potential car! Matt is no slouch and if you don't pick him up soon, you'll be sorry! This run should be enough to prove to you that you need Field!

The Ford Versus Chevy battle took place against Justin Pawlak and Tyler McQuarrie. JTP would lead first and use the power of the NASCAR Ford V8 to pull ahead of McQuarrie, giving Justin the advantage. Even with a great pendulum chuck by Tyler into the bank, Pawlak remained unphased and kept proximity up until the inner bank, where Tyler was able to hold a little more speed going in. Pawlak, however, would switch to a lower line and pull back up against Tyler, giving me the proximity advantage from the transition from the inner bank to the final front clip. These advantages would give JTP the win over McQuarrie and it seemed as if McQuarrie knew it as he did not stick around for the winner's announcement.

The last round of the Great 8 would be Robbie Nishida and Ryan Tuerck. Ryan would do his lead run first and kept a gap between he and Nishida from the start to the transition from the inner bank to the final front clip. This gave an advantage to Ryan. Robbie's lead run would come next and while Robbie would pull a little gap, Ryan, using the same lines as Nishida, would close back up and finish with close proximity to Nishida. That would mean that Robbie would be knocked out and Ryan Tuerck would move on to the Final Four!
