GSR Autosport fabricated bellhousing adapts the G-Force transmission to the M3 engine.

The engine will breathe through a 3.5″ oval exhaust system made of Vibrant 304 stainless tubing and U bends.  Vibrant is a fabrication supply house with many innovative products that are used throughout this build.  Vibrant is also supplying all of the stainless V-Band quick release junctures throughout the exhaust which speeds assembly and maintenance.

The G-Force GSR transmission is bulletproof and super fast shifting.  It’s also lightweight and easy to work on, having no syncros.

The intake charge pipes are fabricated from Vibrant aluminum U bends with Vibrant silicone couplers, stainless T-Bolt clamps and quick release flex fittings.  A Synapse Engineering Synchronic blow off valve relieves closed throttle pressure built up.  It’s high degree of adjustability with its stepped substrate piston is great for maximum driveability. An air to air intercooler will be used. The piping feeds pressurized air to a Horsepower Freaks large plenum intake manifold which supplements the stock ITB intake.  Turbo engines like big plenums and this intake will outpower the sophisticated ITB system.

Strong steel driveshaft with Spicer HD truck U-joints is pretty close to bullet proof.

The engine itself is relatively stock with the exception of Carrillo rods and CP forged pistons.  The S54 engine is known to withstand 1000 hp in boosted form so it should prove reliable in this less stressed application.  A Pectel SQ6 ECU commands things even with a tricky drive by wire throttle with a Pi Engineering/Pectel Omega dash providing monitoring and data logging. Gas in a fuel safe fuel cell is fed to a surge tank with a Bosch 044 motorsports fuel pump.  Another regulated 044 pump feeds the engine from the surge tank.

The Speedway Engineering quick change rear end is near bulletproof with a 10.5″ ring gear.  Mike runs a 4.11 gear ratio most of the time but it can be changes in just minutes if need be.  A spool differential provides positive torque to each rear wheel.

The power is fed through an 8.5″ low inertia twin disc Clutchmasters clutch and lightweight aluminum flywheel.  A Mike Essa/GSR Autosport fabricated bellhousing couples the boosted S54 engine to a G-Force GSR 4-speed dog shifted racing gearbox.  The GSR is quickly becoming the transmission of choice for drifting due to its clutch-free lighting fast shifting and bulletproof construction.  The GSR also has a fiddle free top linkage that also makes for fast and smooth shifts.
