KW Releases First Coilover Solution for the New Toyota Supra

KW Variant 3 Coilover Suspension for the Toyota GR Supra

KW automotive, the suspension manufacturer, has already developed the first in the market full adjustable coilover suspension kit for the latest Toyota GR Supra (JTSC). With the KW Variant 3 coilover suspension, the Japanese sports car dynamics of lateral motion will improve without sacrificing tire comfort in daily life. On undulating asphalt surfaces the KW suspension dampens harmoniously and prevents bumpy driving behavior. The pitch and roll movements of the bodywork are noticeably reduced. Thanks to the KW multi-valve damper technology the separate adjustment of compression (16 clicks) and rebound (12 clicks) settings the driving dynamics of the new Supra are improved. The stepless and approved lowering is 40 millimeters.

Part Number 352200CG (w/o electronic suspension) = MSRP: $2,549.99
Part Number 352200CH (includes electronic suspension delete kit) = MSRP: $2,799.99
Part Number: 68511086 (electronic suspension delete kit) = MSRP: $449.99

With a weight distribution of almost 50:50, rear-wheel drive and a turbocharged 340 hp three-liter six-cylinder in-line engine, the new Toyota GR Supra (JTSC) is a worthy successor of the legendary Toyota Supra Mk4. The long wait for fans of Japanese sports cars is now over and the Coupé is a blast. So, as soon as the sporty Toyota is available, the suspension manufacturer KW automotive will already offer a coilover suspension kit. “Despite the low center of gravity of the GR Supra”, says KW product manager Johannes Wacker, “our KW Variant 3 Coilover allows a stepless lowering of 15-35 millimeters on the front axle and 20-40 millimeters on the drive axle”.

Intelligent multi-valve technology for sporty driving pleasure in everyday life

The KW Coilover suspensions provide a significant performance gain and are appreciated by car enthusiasts worldwide. “This is mainly due to our multi-valve technology used in the dampers with preconfigured high-speed valves and adjustable low-speed valves for the compression and rebound forces,” says KW Product Manager Johannes Wacker. “This enables us to achieve driving behavior as tight as necessary and as comfortable as possible.” This damper technology is based on KW motorsport developments. For example, at the Nurburgring 2019 24-hour race, the Toyota Supra Gazoo Racing Team also used KW motorsport suspension with separately adjustable compression and rebound dampers. The factory preconfigured high-speed valves enable harmonious suspension travel even with a stiff adjusted damper setup. These high-speed valves open in a flash even at maximum lowering and fast driving over transverse joints or bumps. The Coupé does not get bumpy on motorway bridges with transverse joints and remains safely controllable at the limits of driving dynamics in daily life. The adjustable dampers make it possible to adjust the already preset and recommended suspension setup for the Toyota GR Supra further for a personal driving experience for everyday use. With 16 clicks, the cross-section in the low-speed valve can be reduced or enlarged to precisely adjust the damping with every click. If the rebound valve is opened, driving comfort increases. If it is closed, the pitch and roll movements of the body structure are significantly reduced and handling becomes even more dynamic. “Simply put, the task of the rebound stage is to connect the body to the road, while the compression stage influences the compression and supports the chassis,” explains KW Product Manager Johannes Wacker. In addition, the adjustable low-speed pressure stage can be closed or opened with twelve clicks to further influence the steering behavior and grip level of the tires.

  1. Well, it’s starting to look a little better, but it’s gotta a long way to go…all I can say is, “Toytoa should thank God for the aftermarket.”
