MotoIQ.com's Project 240SX Land Speed Racer (LSR), driven by Editor Chuck Johnson, secured its second land speed record of the year this time on the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats.   Facing adversity from seemingly every direction, Team MotoIQ managed to overcome a mixture of freak mechanical and electrical issues to qualify for a land speed record with an initial pass of 182 MPH against an existing 167.5 MPH record.

After being impounded overnight Team MotoIQ  and Chuck Johnson managed to back up their record run the next morning and set a new H/PS land speed record at 178.9 MPH.  The H/PS class is for non-engine swapped vehicles with a forced induction engine of 1.0-1.5L and a predominately stock body, void of aerodynamic modifications.

MotoIQ Project 240SX LSR features an SR20 engine, which has been de-stroked to 1.5L liters and uses a Nissan VVL cylinder head with variable valve lift.  This engine, dubbed the SR15VET 20V, was designed by MotoIQ's very own Chuck Johnson and then brought to fruition by engine builder Nick Hunter of 5523 Motorsports.  The engine's turbo system features a combination of parts from Borg Warner, Turbosmart, and Full Race Motorsports.

Fabrication duties were handled by John Kuchta of Specialty Cars while engine tuning was handled by Clark Steppler of Jim Wolf Technology.  Chassis engineers Mike Kojima and Chris Marion were responsible for setting up  Project 240SX LSR's suspension which features links SPL Pro Suspension and KW Suspensions dampers.
