This is the crankshaft of the supercharged V12 engine used in the W154 pictured above. It's not forged out of a single piece, but rather incorporates individual segments in order to use roller bearings. This allowed the connecting rods to run with minimal friction. Amazing tech from a car that was raced in the 30's! |
