Project E46 M3: Part 4 – Improved handling, acceleration, braking and looks

,

Here’s the finished product.

Here's where we started from in Part 1.  In my opinion, a silver E46 M3 actually looks fine with the chrome grills and silver wheels.

But I'd still say the M3 looks significantly better this way.  It reminds me perhaps of another way (other than the “Competition” and “CSL” packages) BMW could improve the look of a limited-edition M3.  Now, comparing the pictures, the previous “chrome” picture above makes the E46 M3 look more luxurious than sporty.  I wonder which look our readers would prefer.  Let us know in the comment section below!

Yes, yes, we know—you see something behind the black wheels.  But hold your ponies because that’s for our next discussion!

Having put the M3 on a lift, it was time to give it a little wash and a scrub here.  Call me insane, but I like clean cars not only on the outside and inside, but also underneath (I also think everyone should use a bidet).  Plus, it’s good practice out here in the Midwest after a salty-road winter (but don’t ask us to test the BFG Rivals in the snow, okay?).

Notice the stock, bronze colored “Section1” portion coming off of our Swain Tech-coated VAC/Fabspeed headers?  Yeah, we'll be modifying or removing it all together, and replacing it with something quieter and possibly even better flowing.  The car is just a little too loud right now (check out the last page in Part 3 for a video confirmation).
