With the A/C system finished under the dash, we were able to connect the JP3 Motorsports A/C lines to the evaporator core. JP3 located the service valves conveniently in easy to access locations.
These lines are extremely high quality and utilize DEI thermal insulation sleeves to not only protect the rubber lines, but to improve the cooling efficiency of the A/C system. This becomes even more crucial for cars that do not use heat shielding or ceramic coating on their downpipes.
We went with the RX-8 A/C condenser (PN: F151-61-480) which is not only taller and wider than the original FD RX-7 condenser, but it has more horizontal tubes to improve cooling. This results in a substantial 23.4% larger surface area, which along with the more efficient RX-8 compressor, greatly improves the cooling efficiency over the stock FD RX-7’s A/C system.
JP3’s A/C system regularly outputs below 40*F from the vents on hot days and from these obvious improvements, it’s easy to see how that is possible.
Since we are V-mounting the radiator and intercooler, we went with JP3’s V-mounted A/C line kit.
The A/C lines fit perfectly to the V-mounted RX-8 condenser.

Awesome article and JP3 makes some awesome products. I had no idea their AC kits even existed.
They are constantly innovating and making amazing products for the RX-7 platform. Check out their website and look around!
Excellent article and one I’ll look at replicating if my ac goes on the FD.
Good stuff! Can’t wait till you get it up and running!
Jp3 had excellent customer service. They’ve spent hours with me to trouble shoot.
