Project Garage X: Taking it to the Track

,

Tire pressure gauge and mini compressor
If this is the extent of the tools you use at the track, it's an awesome day!

Fluids
Pick your poison but bring them all.

Jumper cables
Most likely these won't be hard to find at a track day as long as you actually make it to the track  in the first place.

Track odds and ends
Don't tell me you don't have something on your car held together by zip ties.  Spare silicon hoses and couplers in a pinch and of course, shop towels and latex gloves. Tape also works for adding your number to your car.

Keeping clean at the track
A blanket can keep you from looking like Pig Pen after you crawl out from under your car.  Hand sanitizer might not get all the grease off your hands but that track burger will be helluva lot more appetizing if you aren't leaving oily fingerprints all over the bun. I think I excited the hand cleaner…

Cleaning your car at the track
The faster you clean bugs, gravel, and track dust off your car, the more likely you'll restore that showroom quality shine! And most important thing when hotlapping- vision. Don't drive like Ray Charles- you can't track with a blind walking cane. Bring something to clean off your windshield.

Don't fret if you don't have what you need. Chances are someone has lugged that tool/fluid/sunscreen, etc. that you forgot on the floor of your garage 100 miles away. As long as you haven't been driving like a douche on the track or acting like you have a stick up your butt in the paddock, they'll lend you a hand. Just remember to return the favor or tool- cleaner than it was when you got it- with a thanks. Readers, what other tools would you recommend?

Safe tracking!
