The last and possibly best component that we picked up from SuperPro is their awesome forged aluminum front control arms. These are a very cool offering, and they feature additional camber and caster built into the arm itself. This should help the car a little bit with that on power push we observed on the track. The forging offers both an increase in strength as well as weight reduction over the stock stamped steel fabricated lower arms.
Howard got to work starting with the rear lower control arm inner bushings. It is clearly visible how much more material the SuperPro bushings have. The stock bushings look flimsy in comparison. They are also hollowed out for softness where the Superpro parts are designed not to move under pressure.
The next major component to go in the rear is the new adjustable sway bar. This bar has two adjustable positions and locating collars to help keep the bar functioning properly under load. The bar also includes poly bushings for mounting.
The difference between the stock trailing arm bushings and the SuperPro units is quite significant. The stock rubber bushings material is very soft and compliant, but it is also partially hollow, compared to the solid and thick construction of the SuperPro. If this doesn’t show you how important installing a good set of bushings is to the performance of your suspension upgrades is, we do not know what will.
After installing the upper control arm bushings, the next step was to remove the rear hub and get to work replacing the lower bushing on the bench.
