Howard popped the stock lower bushing out of the rear hub and is doing some clean up of the bushing bores from the removal process. It pays to have the right tools and “the know how”.
After wrapping up the rear install process, Howard moved on the the front and started by replacing the engine pitch bushing. This bushing appears to have the same OEM build quality with a much stiffer bushing compound. What a great replacement for the flimsy stock bushings. You can literally flex the stock bushings with just finger strength, unlike the replacements from SuperPro.
Installation of these bushings requires a complete removal of the lower sub frame assembly. Once the subframe is out, the installation process is very straightforward.
The other half of the SuperPro engine mount kit are these bad boys right here. Using what appears to be OEM mounts with the SuperPro bushing material, these are very high-quality pieces. The engine and transmission mounts are a simple install from the top and can be installed without much fuss. The combination of the pitch mount and these replacement engine/transmission mounts are definitely going to make a big change in the feel of the engine response. We are looking forward to seeing how they feel with a DSG transmission.
The SuperPro front control arms are downright impressive from every aspect. The build quality, as well as the features, are simply outstanding. These are available in a variety of different configurations of camber and caster from SuperPro and we decided to go with the +1 caster and additional -0.5 degrees of camber versions of the arms. The caster will improve turn in and straight line tracking, it will also give more negative camber under turning on the heavier laden outer wheel. The negative camber improves front grip, complementing the Bilstein Club Sports camber plate and the resulting longer control arm increases front track width which also greatly helps reduce understeer on an AWD vehicle.
