Project Nissan 200SX 1.6 GA16DE – The O.G. intro…..

How do you re-introduce a project that started over 12 years ago? Seriously this car was a personal project the day I drove it off the dealership lot in 1996. As I try and breathe new life in to this never ending project I find myself reflecting on it's various states. From 3 10's and 1200 watts, to fart cans and drop springs, this car has seen more parts than a stock boy at Nopi……… It is true that this car was originally purchased with the intention of competing in car audio competitions but that focus quickly changed as I started to autocross and dabble in the performance world. After attending my first track day I was a changed man and so was the car, out came the audio sytem and in went all of my money…

We knew the anemic GA16 needed a serious kick in the arse. As it were we had done every bolt-on as well as Jim Wolf Technology cams and head work and were making a ground breaking 113 horsepower to the front wheels. This is where our first crack at a turbo setup came in. At the time our project was originally turbocharged Hot Shot performance was still booming and were selling what was the best turbo kit ever produced for the GA16. We designed a turbo setup largely based around the Original Hot Shot turbo kit. We opted to do a bit of tweaking so we ordered the “piping kit” from Hot Shot so that we could source the rest of the components ourselves.

This is the original turbo setup all buttoned up. We originally dubbed this the “angry octopus”.
