The GT car looks very much like a stock ZR1 with a larger rear wing.

The rules allowed the team to use these features and the Corvette C6.R race car is now virtually identical to the Corvette ZR1 street car in appearance. The rules in GT1 allowed the sectioning and widening of the fenders, but the GT rules require production-type fenders with simple flares to accommodate wider tires. Consequently the ZR1 race car looks like a production car, because fundamentally it is one.

A ZR1 with much lower ride height that is…

The production splitter used in GT does not require a massive rear wing to produce aerodynamic balance, and consequently there is less total downforce. This actually made the car more predictable over a wide range of speeds. The GT1 version has tremendous downforce, but the downforce was directly proportional to speed. In slow corners the GT1 car behaves differently than it does in fast corners, so the drivers have to adjust for the amount of grip they would have at various speeds. With the GT aero package, the car behaves very predictably in low, medium, and high-speed corners.

The GT car rides on forged aluminum BBS center lock wheels and Michelin race slicks.

Dual master cylinders are integrated into a motorsports based ABS system as observed by the wiring and sensors.

The GT1 Corvette C6.R is equipped with amorphous carbon carbon brake rotors and pads, while GT regulations require ferrous (iron) brake discs with carbon ceramic brake pads. Huge six piston front and four piston AP Calipers are used.  Tilton master cylinders and brake balance bars are integral in a Tilton pedal assembly. The Corvette race car’s wheel and tire dimensions are the same in both classes, but the GT version uses aluminum rather than magnesium rims. 18 x12.5 front and 18×13 rear forged BBS wheels with 300/32-18 front Michelin racing slicks front and 310/32-18 rear.

Look at the intricate machine work on the six piston AP front caliper!  I bet a lot of FEA went into the design of that.  The caliper looks to be super light.

The four piston rear caliper also has intricate machine work.  GT cars must use conventional iron rotors unlike the exotic carbon carbon rotors used on the GT1 cars.
