JE Pistons, Inc., the leader in forged racing pistons, currently has an entry-level opening in their engineering department as an Engineering Technician. The candidate must be detail oriented, competent in the use of precision measuring tools, and passionate about the automotive or powersports performance industry.
Accurately completes surface plate layouts of pistons and cylinder heads using precision measuring tools: height gauges, indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.
Records engine specifications in technical databases
Communicates technical information accurately and effectively to engineering, sales, and manufacturing staff
Uses CAD software to generate 2D and 3D piston features for programming and design use
Responds to manufacturing and sales inquires for engineering support
Creates skirt notch, laser mark, and other work instructions for the shop personnel using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Word
Interprets engineering prints to translate customer requirements into meaningful design inputs
Completes basic revisions to fixturing, tooling, and forging prints
Occasionally supports quality, inspection, and manufacturing with other assignments as required
Associate's degree, certificate, or one to two years of equivalent experience in automotive, machining, drafting, metrology or related discipline
Demonstrated competence in the use of precision measurement tools including micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and calipers
Basic experience in 2D and/or 3D CAD software, preferably utilizing AutoCAD or SolidWorks
Basic understanding of internal combustion engine technology, both hands-on and theory
Good written and oral communication abilities
Must be able to work as a member within cross-functional problem solving teams to identify and address quality issues throughout the entire organization
Ability to read and interpret basic engineering prints
Proficient in the use of MS office tools such as Outlook, Excel and Word.
Must be a motorsports enthusiast with a strong passion for performance and commitment to continual improvement
Familiarity with GD&T, lean principles, an ISO9001:2008 based QMS, Six Sigma DMAIC process, or bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
