100 Drifters of December
I still think a pickup truck can make for a great drift machine!

Sunday was also Drift Nirvana/151 Motorsports/MotoIQ.com Competition Day on the Bridge Course for Tier 1 drivers. It would also be my Judging debut, as Cory Zinkhan needed another pair of eyes and an opinion to declare winners and losers. It started slowly, but picked up the pace towards the end of competition. These guys are at the top of the Drift Nirvana Tiers, with more events and the allowance to tandem, they are the Pros of DN and showed it.

Judging was pretty straight forward and very D1 like. You're not looking for absolute aggregation by the following driver, instead you are watching him mimic the lines of the leading driver. The leading driver must put on the best run he can. Some consideration was taken in a car's power and situation, but you still had to throw down a killer run. Me and Cory didn't agree with everything, but that's to be expected.

ACTIVE AERO?! Nah, just forgot to secure the hatch.

After defeating Todd Rich, who would earn Third Place, Alan Brentzel in a LS V8 powered Nissan Skyline would face “Rapper” Dan Savage in the finale. The winner would get the chance to tandem with Vaughn Gittin, Jr.. With each driver making a mistake on their first runs and perfect runs on their second runs, a One More Time was called by not only Cory and I, but Alan and Dan themselves! In the end, Dan was able to pull off the victory and declared winner of the 100 Drifters of December Competiton. He then went on to tandem with JR, proving to everyone there that “Rapper” Dan Savage will be the East Coast Driver to watch for in 2012.

Your winner of the 100 Drifters of December is “Rapper” Dan Savage!

I want to thank everyone, from Jens Scott to Michael “Yoshi” Jeffery to Cory Zinkhan to “Rapper” Dan Savage for showing me a great time and allowing me to not only work as media for such a great event, but also be a Judge in the competition. Once Defiant1 is finished, the first event I am taking it to is a Drift Nirvana event at Summit Point Motorsports Park. With the show put on by DN at 100 Drifters of December, how can I not?!
