2013: The Lovefab Enviate

Chromoly fabrication
We made the main hoop and connected the rear half of the car to this.  We had some time to kill before the rest of the chromoly would arrive, so we took that week to get plenty of work done on our customer cars.

The driver's position was established early on in the chassis' fabrication.

The chromoly arrived on a Friday, and we spent all weekend thrashing on the car non-stop.  A week after starting the process, the car was on its wheels, and the engine/trans was fitted to the chassis.  The next two weeks were spent working on customer cars, and alternating back and forth to the Enviate.

During this time we managed to get the steering wheel, shifter, and seat mounted, as well as the first of the body panels; the 1/8″ Aluminum skid plate mounted beneath the driver, which is mandated by Pikes Peak rules.  We were able to obtain a rolling-chassis weight of 1251lbs, which included the engine/transmission, suspension/brakes, and all driver controls.  We should be able to get the complete car to under 1800lbs total. From here we will finish the flat-bottom of the car, and then begin fitting the body.

To follow, we will document the turbo system fabrication, dry sump installation, engine building, wiring, more body panel fitting, tuning, and finally testing.  We have three weeks to complete all of this to hit our original timeline.  It's going to be tight, but we'll sleep when we're dead, right?
