After the 2 hour ALMS practice session, Friday was filled with practice sessions for the IZOD IndyCar Series, Firestone Indy Lights, Pirelli World Challenge Championship and the Toyota Pro/Celebrity race. Then at the end of the day the ALMS cars hit the track again for their qualifying sessions, as their race was scheduled for Saturday.

| ALMS qualifying sessions in Long Beach conststs of four 15 minutes sessions, one for each class except for the LMP1 and LMP2 classes which went out at the same time. Joey Hand's 1:19.090 would be good enough to take the pole and also set a new class record. |
