Saturday's morning and early afternoon schedule was filled with practice and qualifying sessions, but the main event was scheduled for 4:30pm – the Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series! I'm personally a huge ALMS fan and it's the main reason why I love to come watch the Grand Prix. Why more people are not interested in this series is seriously beyond me. Regardless, it was a beautiful day for racing and I was ready to sit back and enjoy myself as the 29 competitors rolled on to the track and prepared for the start.

| After taking the pole and setting a new class record, the Rahal Letterman Racing team and their pair of BMW M3's were in a very good position to possibly take down the Flying Lizard team who have dominated the Long Beach street course the past couple years. |

| Both of Corvette Racing's C6Rs finished the 2 hour race. The #4 driven by Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen finished second in GT, while Olivier Beretta and Tommy Milner (former BMW driver) took the #3 to a 5th place finish. |

| This incident at the fountain held the BMW team back, but Hand was still able to fight his way back to the lead and take the win in the GT class. |
