#4: EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Proper road lighting is often overlooked by owners of older cars.  We get replacement bulbs for several of our project cars from Sparkplugs.com, which offer some of the best prices around.

These are the Perde headlight replacement bulbs for the MPV’s head lights.  They're supposed to give a little whiter look over the normally-yellowish headlights you still see everywhere.  The installment is quick, so, back in a few!

Here is the difference between the stock Sylvania (left/passenger) vs Perde’s “Xenon and Krypton” H11 bulb on the right.  While not obvious and not quite xenon-like, as you would see with a much more expensive HID ballast, the Perde’s are slightly, yet still noticeably whiter in color tone than our originals.  Also notice the bluish hue underneath.

Sparkplugs.com also carries Halo light bulbs, which are a Japanese brand.  These are some of the different LED bulbs we’ll be using to replace the rear lights and turn signals, along with the interior dome lighting.

These are the bulbs we’ll be replacing in the rear taillight assembly, which include the ones for driving, braking, turn and reverse.  We also did the third brake light at the top, as well as the two little bulbs for the license plate.

In the case of many cars, third brake lights have multiple lights that tend to go out from time to time.  However, you can’t always pop them off the outside.  In the case of our MPV, you have to open up the rear trunk hatch, pop off of the plastic cover, and the back end of the lense will be exposed.  Only then can you push it out to gain access to the bulbs.
