The stock BMW sunroof is really not as heavy as most. The framing is made from a lightweight plastic. It weighs about half as much as typical sunroofs we have seen. |

The roof panel is bonded onto the unibody with structural aircraft epoxy adhesive. This is stronger than welding and is how the OEM carbon roofs are attached on the M3 and M6. The pins you see are Cleco clamps, they are commonly used in sheetmetal fabrication to align panels while they are being bonded or riveted. |

Clecos hold the panel in position in the same places where the stock factory spot welds were drilled out. |

All of the stock wiring and headliner clips fit perfectly. |

After the adhesive sets, the Clecos are removed and the holes filled with carbon and epoxy patches. The blue tape prevents the excess adhesive from oozing into the interior. |
