TRG's #66 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup took home the win in GT-C. Strategy came in to play in the win when the team pitted late in the race under green for fuel and new tires. The same full course yellow that allowed the Genoa Racing's LMPC entry to catch up with the pack did the same for the #66 of TRG. With plenty of fuel and fresh tires the TRG Porsche was able to get the better of Black Swan Racing's #54. |
The GT-C class had a total of 9 entries, but the championship race was solely in the hands of Black Swan Racing with 134 points and The Racing Group (TRG) with 123 points. The third place team was a whopping 47 points behind. Both teams started the race at the front of the GT-C pack with the Black Swan Racing squad taking the pole and the TRG team not far behind in 3rd. After the first pit stop and driver change the TRG Porsche was able to over take the #54 of Black Swan Racing and pretty much held on to the lead for the rest of the race. Though positions fluctuated due to pit stops, the TRG Porsche was always in 3rd place or better.
Though pole sitters Black Swan Racing were not able to hold back the TRG squad, their second place finish gave them enough points to maintain their lead for the GT-C championship. They now only have an 11 point lead going into Petit Lemans, which will have 30 points available for the taking. |
