ALMS – Laguna Seca Race Weekend

It is also worth mentioning that the Porsche 911 Hybrid made its west coast debut at Laguna Seca.  The car would not be competing for any points, but it was able give the field a preview of things to come.  The hybrid finished in front of the entire GT field and turned faster lap times, all while making half the amount of pit stops. Dual electric motors add an additional 100 hp to the front wheels from stored braking energy. The extra power can be accessed at the push of a button, but it is also programmed to automatically kick in certain areas of the track.

With the ALMS race in the books we still had a full day of racing ahead of us.  No 6 hour endurance races were scheduled for Sunday, but we still had a packed schedule of racing to check out from 4 different race series.  I won't go into detail like I did with the ALMS race, but I still want to make sure you all know what's in store for you when you go out to check out these events for yourself.

We'll start off with the Cooper Tire Prototype Lites.  The Prototype Lite series travels the alongside the American Le Mans series and it is used as a feeder series for the LMP1, LMP2 and LMPC classes.  Don't let their small size fool you, these cars are turning lap times comparable to the GT class!
