The final race of the weekend was the Pirelli World Challenge. World Challenge, much like ALMS, allows different classes of cars to compete at the same time. The cars and competition are much more attainable than ALMS. You will find a large variety of cars like Cadillac CTS-Vs, Porsche 911 GT3s, Ford Mustangs, and Honda Civics. |
Randi Pobst of K-PAX Racing took the GT class and overall pole in his AWD Volvo S60, but was not able to hold off the charge from Mike Skeen in the CRP/Crager Wheels Chevy Corvette Z06. |
Porsche driving junkie Patrick Long was also behind the wheel of the TruSpeed Porsche 911 GT3. He didn't have the same winning results he had in the Flying Lizard Porsche the night before, but he was still the fastest Porsche in the GT class. |
The APM Racing team that competes in the MPTCC is also running a car in the World Challenge TC class. Maybe we'll get a chance to see Tommy Chen and the Mazda RX-8 in a MPTCC event! |
Don't forget to keep close tabs on the ALMS series as there are a few championships still on the line. The 10 hour Petit Le Mans race is less than two weeks away and you can watch it live on ESPN 3 or you can catch the recap/replay on ABC the Sunday after the race.
