Analyzing Turn by Turn- the Leavitt Machinery Knox Mountain Hill Climb Course Technical Analysis

,

The straight between 4 and 5 allows you to build up a bit of speed before entering the off-camber left known as Turn 5. As it is notorious for pulling cars off the road, it's quite possible that I, along with some other racers, left a lot of speed on the table here.

Here's a look back at Turn 4 from Turn 5. Did I mention that a full safety crew is stationed part way up the hill? That there are marshals everywhere! Ambulance and crew on site. A flatbed and a picker truck ready if needed.

Turn 6 is fast and it leads into the fastest straight on the course.

This straight is a slight uphill when compared to the rest of the course that culminates in the fastest corner of the course, Turn 7. Speeds of 160 kph/100mph and more are normal for the faster cars through this section.

Talk about a course of technical corners and we arrive at the very fast Turn 7, which starts left and then at the crest where the road appears to vanish it goes right.

A very short straight takes you to the final switchback known as Turn 8. Tuck in tight to the apex and the road just pulls you in, around, and slingshots you towards Turn 9.
