Analyzing Turn by Turn- the Leavitt Machinery Knox Mountain Hill Climb Course Technical Analysis

,

Like Turn 4 a photo simply does not do justice to Turn 9, this right hander …

that becomes a left hander that you cannot take with too much speed because that is a rock face in the background and not a sand bank …

that becomes a right hander again. I think you can begin to comprehend my difficulty in trying to explain to anyone that this course has only 9 corners. There are so many complex corners that it feels like many more.
Which takes us to the finish line that is approximately at the end of the curbing. And that is the 3.5 kilometre/2.2 mile long course that rises 245 metres/800 feet between the start and end.

I walked and photographed the course before the tire walls and additional concrete barriers were put in place. As I headed back down the course (believe me it was a much easier walk!) the additional safety features were being installed.

There were a number of drivers who were here and were novices to the course like myself. What astounded me was the number of drivers who were present who were running the course for 20, 30, and 35 years and loving every opportunity to come back. This is an incredibly challenging course that will not forgive a lapse of attention and will reward the driver who learns and understands each of its corners. A mountain hill climb has been on my bucket list for quite some time. And now that I have completed the Knox Mountain Hill Climb and stroked it off of my bucket list, I have added it back to the list. You see, I have to go back. Stay tuned – next up will be the Cars of Knox Mountain Hill Climb.
