Final weight: 25.4 pounds. That's 18.2 pounds taken off of each door.

Finally, the center tunnel needs a tiny bit notched out so the seats fit tight enough for the cage to clear.

 

The metal cut out is replaced with aluminum plating.

Preparations like welding the chassis, taking weight off of the doors, and clearing some room for the seat help prepare the car for the next step, the building of the full, race-spec cage.
