Driver Profiles – Beth Chryst

Question Time!

First off let's tell our readers which series you drive in?

The Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Series

How did you get your start into cars and racing?

I went to Summit Point Raceway (Summit Point, WV) to watch a friend and entered a “fun finale” (you pay about $20.00 and get to take a go kart out on the track) with Woodbridge Kart Club and was hooked!

What made you choose the MX-5 Cup as your series?

I had been following a fellow teammate through the series for almost 2 years and I loved all the different aspects in regards to the series (how it is run, the rules, Mazda’s support etc.).  This series is actually owned by Mazda and there is always a Mazda representative at each event.  Not only do they have a strong grasp on the rules, the contingency money is great!  Everyone across the board (series staff and the series sponsors) are such a huge help and always there to lend a hand or answer any of your questions.

Who are your current sponsors?

Chryst Brothers Construction, Inc and Studio Rhoad Marketing and Graphic Designs (they help me with my marketing).  Unfortunately due to the minimal amount of sponsorship I currently have has made me sit on the sidelines from some events.  I am hoping in 2012 that won’t be the case for me

Who was your first sponsor and how did they help you?

Chryst Brothers Construction, Inc. has been 100% behind me from the get go.  They have given me the funds that allowed me 11 years ago to start chasing my career.

What advice would you give to someone or a team wanting to get into Road Racing?

Take as many schools are you can.  Go in with an open mind and take criticism and better yourself.  Watch others while not on the track you would be shocked at what you can learn from watching others.
