Formula Drift Round 3 – Palm Beach International Raceway

,

Great Eight

The Brostang battle started with Gittin leading Pawlak. Gittin’s lead run was a good one, with Pawlak struggling to maintain proximity and making a major mistake as he straightened in the final clip. Gittin didn’t play it safe in his chase run, getting very aggressive on initiation and being forced into a shallow line. As a result, all three judges voted for a One More Time.  After a close lead run for Gittin, he hit Pawlak’s car on initiation and spun out, ending his day.

The battle of the Big Wings was over almost before it started. With Saito leading, Chelsea came in hot and hit Saito’s car – hard – doing damage to the left front of DeNofa’s BMW. After DeNofa repaired his car in five minutes, the technical steward ruled that his car was not safe enough to continue, and Saito would move on.

Putting in his best performance to date in Formula Drift wasn’t enough for Ken Moen to overcome Chris Forsberg. Just as he did against Yoshioka, Forsberg let no daylight between Moen’s car and his own when he was in chase, and he would move on.

The two V8-powered Nissan S13’s of Tuerck and Yoshihara put on a show, with the first two runs too close to make a decision, so the judges sent them for One More Time. After the second pair of runs, the judges advanced Yoshihara in a split decision.
