This trip has a little extra special personal meaning for me. You see, I’m a brand spanking new citizen of this great land and have not left the country since I arrived in 1987! Well, I went to Mexico for a couple days a few years ago, but that doesn’t really count. So this was going to be my first time experiencing life outside the US in my adult years.
From a first glance everything seemed exactly the same! Only minutes after leaving the airport I had already seen a McDonalds, Subway, 7-Eleven and even a Krispy-Kreme. So how different could it be? Like the old saying goes – the difference is in the details.
Our lavish quarters. I think I was still in Peru the last time I slept on a twin sized bed.
This is what a $50+ (US) lunch looks like! Worst of all, the burger tasted like seasoned Gyro meat. I then asked for some mustard and the waitress looked at me like I was crazy.
Final clearance price? They must be really proud of those sweats.
After an unsatisfactory lunch we set course for the beautiful Eastern Creek Raceway! The track is gorgeous. Lots of elevation changes and just a beautiful backdrop.
Our sole US representative. GO TEAM USA!!!
