Global Time Attack – Round 1 – Road Atlanta

,

NASA regular Austin Cabot brought out his Challenge USA/GT Motoring FR-S to compete in Enthusiast RWD against Phil Grabow in the Element Tuning FR-S and Donald Squirek in his Mazda Miata. Despite the fact that Austin competes in the Midwest region he is no stranger to Hotlanta being originally from this area and both he and Phil Grabow started laying down quick laps right out of the box.

Enthusiast RWD was the battle of the FR-S and in this case red versus black. Austin Cabot in the GT Motoring/Challenge USA brought out his mildly prepped FR-S. This car simply has a proper KW club sport suspension, Rays Wheels and some other goodies to provide the stick. Look for these guys to further develop this car and Austin to go even faster.

The Element Tuning FR-S in the hands of Phil Grabow. This car was on custom valved BC coilovers, Prodrive wheels with Hankook RS3s, and tuned on E85 using the new HYDRA stand alone system. With the current setup the power output is around 185 RWHP all tuned through the HYDRA E.M.S. Look for this system to hit the market as they are just finishing putting it through its paces.

The Street RWD class saw the deepest field and closest racing of the weekend. With 6 competitors half of the class was comprised of Honda S2000s and rounded out by a 350Z, 370Z, and an IS300. A true battle of different makes to decided the fastest RWD car on street tires! The IS did not show up until the later sessions and until then, Joe Ippolito in the Z1 370Z was looking like the head of that class.

Despite a severely overheating rear diff. Joe kept his foot in the Z1 370Z. This car turned consistent laps all weekend and Joe never set a wheel wrong! Normally Joe pilots his TTB Sentra but in this case he made the change to RWD to put Z1 towards the top of the podium.

Deft Motion SIlver Bullett Catch Can Recycle
I have officially dubbed the Deft Motion Sponsored S2000 of Daniel Walters the Silver Bullet. Not only is it too fast for its rear bumper it sports a Coors Light catch can. We believe in recycling here at MotoIQ and for that this is deemed Certified Legit. Oh and this car is on Koni Yellow's and Eibach springs with nearly a stock drivetrain! Dan's knowledge of Road Atlanta allowed him to turn fast laps right out of the gate and all weekend long!

Dyson Pham brought out his S2000 all the way from Richmond Texas to compete. Despite it being his first time at the track he was in the hunt for the podium in the SRWD class. We look forward to seeing these guys out at future events!
