Hooman Rahimi’s 350Z: Pro 2 and the Cost of Drifting

,

His initial roadblocks getting to this point he said included, “seat time and learning the dynamics of high speed drifting as well as banked courses.” This is not to mention the whole year of downtime in 2015 that Hooman spent building up his Nissan 350Z. Hooman explained, “My main reason that I started driving in Pro-Am was for the seat time and the competition. At most of the events, my car was ‘slow’ and ‘underpowered.’ I didn’t care. I made my car work, I drove it the best I could and focused on consistency. I have always believed in out-driving my car before I upgrade it.”

Hooman’s love for drifting eventually lead him to start Turismo Drift, a southeast based drift series. Having the ability to drive other drift series, such as East10Drift and State of Drift, gave Hooman perspective from a driver’s standpoint to create a unique drift series. He added, “I think everyone wants to do their best, but sometimes it’s easy to miss things. I know personally there are things I have learned in the first year of our series just by talking to the drivers and the fans, that I am already working on improving. I've met a lot of great people over the years, and love to hear feedback and ideas to improve the sport.”

Hooman finished up the 2016 year at East10Drift’s “Driftmas” Event December 17 at his favorite/home track Nashville Super Speedway. “The high speed entry and technicality that is required to link the entry is a very rewarding experience. I like to drive my friend's fairly stock Miata here just for the rewarding feeling of linking it with a car that struggles,” he added.
