Vibrant also makes gaskets that perfectly fit their flanges.

We obtained a lot of silencing from Vibrant as well.  We got a Streetpower Universal flat black muffler as the main muffler.   This is a high quality muffler constructed of 304 stainless with a durable black ceramic coating.  We chose this muffler for its stealth properties so we would not attract the wrong sort of attention!

For our cat and test pipe, we wanted to be able to quickly disconnect the cat for tuning and track use.  We used Vibrant's quick release V-Band clamps.  These clamps have a tight leak free seal and can be removed with only one bolt.  Many V-Band clamps on the market are made of rusting mild steel and have cheap warping clamp flanges.  Vibrant's part is all stainless steel and the flanges are machined from stainless for a tight fit and warp free welding.

The Streetpower muffler can be had in large diameters and we ordered a 3” core.  The core is a full 3” in diameter and is perforated with glass packing around it.  This is a super low backpressure muffler that literally has just about zero backpressure.   The Streetpower has a larger volume oval case so it works a little better for lower frequency noise.

We used two V-Band clamps for the cat and ordered two extra flanges for our test pipe.

For annoying higher frequency notes we are going to run two of Vibrant’s Ultra Quiet resonators.  These resonators also have a large 3” in diameter perforated core and a slightly larger case volume than your typical resonator.   Like the main muffler the resonators are also constructed of 304 stainless.

Solar Flux is the best flux for welding stainless steel.  It is applied to the backside of the weld zone inside the tube and helps prevent weld oxidation.  The outside of the weld is protected from oxidation from the argon gas issuing from the torch head and the Solar Flux protects the back of the weld.  Burns Stainless sells it.

To clean up the exhaust without causing too much restriction we got one of Vibrant's metal core race catalytic converters.  These converters have a free flowing 100 cell metal catalytic matrix in a smoothly shaped free flowing 304 stainless body.  The metal matrix is thinner than ceramic for less frontal area leaving more room for greater exhaust flow. They are not the best for ultimate emissions control but they do flow well and are much better than nothing!  If you want lower emissions, Vibrant also offers ceramic core converters.  Our cat has a 3” inlet and outlet for good flow.
