Jim Wolf Technology Valve Removal Tool

Once you've fully compressed the valve spring, you can take a magnet or small pick and remove the keepers. Unscrew the compressor and you have just finished that valve for that cylinder! Now, on other heads you can completly unscrew the compressor and take the bucket out. On my KA24DE head, not so much. The valve spring pushes up enough to put the bucket against the tool. Oh, well, just means I have to do all four valves and remove the tool. Wow, I'm so spoiled.

From here, you can replace the valve stem seals, the springs, the retainers, the keepers or…

And pack everything up!

Yes, I said pack everything up! The head is on its way, as I write this, to Jim Wolf Technology to get the C78 Camshafts measured for the new valve spring buckets from the VQ35HR. After that, it will be sent to Mike Kojima, who wants to check the head and have some minor service done to it. Nothing extreme, it's mostly a maintenance service. Then, he'll send everything back to me along with the other JWT parts that will be installed on Defiant1's engine! Meanwhile, I'll be doing some prep-work on the chassis, getting the S13/14 front suspension swap done and converting the rear hubs to 5-lug.

Until Next Time!
